Pastor Dianne grew up in Washington, D.C. She holds a B.S. in accounting with a minor in business administration from the University of Maryland University College. Pastor Dianne Lewis was ordained to the roster of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in May 2022 and installed as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jersey City, NJ in June 2022.  Prior to her ordination and installation, Pastor Dianne served as vicar of Trinity Lutheran Church for two years. Before this, Pastor Dianne’s ministry began at Chapel Lutheran Church Frederick, Maryland, where she served in The Oder of St Stephen, Deacon in Maryland as a Saint Stephen Deacon.

Pastor Dianne graduated with a Master of Divinity from United Lutheran Seminary (ULS) in 2022. ULS has campuses in both Gettysburg and Philadelphia, PA, as well as online courses. ULS offers two unique concentrations: Black Church Concentration (through the Urban Theological Institute) and Rural and Small Church (through the Town and Country Institute). Pastor Dianne made history when she was the first student of ULS to earn both concentrations.

Serving the adult community is important to Pastor Dianne; she currently serves on the board of directors for Advocates for the Aging of Frederick County. She previously served two terms as Chair on the Frederick County Commission of Aging. She has five-year’s experience as a volunteer for the Department of Revenue, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program prepared tax returns and provided tax counseling for the elderly. Pastor Dianne also volunteered as a Certified Driver Specialist for AARP. Her compassion for older adults led her to starting a professional senior care organization designed to assist and advocate for seniors dealing with major life changes. Her business focused on such things: changes in marital status, financial hardship, illness, or transitioning to a new lifestyle. It was this same passion which eventually helped her answer God’s call to serve as a pastor in the ELCA. 

 

In addition to being the Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pastor Dianne is currently serving as Vice Pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jersey City. Through the ELCA Coaching Ministry, Pastor Dianne supports leaders of the Church as an ELCA Coach by listening, invoking powerful questions to help discover how they are being invited by God to use their gifts in God’s work of loving and healing the world. Pastor Dianne also serves as a member of the Strategic Ministry Team as a Mission Re-Developer.

Pastor Dianne’s deep passion for the welfare of the community has led to many new ministry opportunities for Trinity Lutheran Church. Since Pastor Dianne’s arrival, Trinity Lutheran Church has developed relationships and collaborated with Hunger Free, Cotton Temple Church of God in Christ, the Department of Health & Human Services Division of Food and Nutrition, and the New Jersey Synod to help feed the community.

Pastor Dianne has one son, a daughter-in-law she adores and the best part of her, one granddaughter. She currently lives in New Jersey. Pastor Dianne enjoys zip-lining. In her free time, she enjoys cruising or hanging out with her sister-friends.
