“And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness.”
Siblings in Christ,
“The Spirit immediately drove him into the wilderness.” This may sound familiar. We look up and there we are standing in the wilderness confused and full of questions. Why me? Yes, we do not invite ourselves into a place of isolation, into a place where the exit sign is invisible, into a place of heartache and fear. Yet, in these times knowing who we belong can illuminate a sigh of relief; God’s mercies are new every day. Just as there is not a date nor time assigned to the entry of our wilderness there is not a stopwatch to say it’s over. But what we do have is God’s grace and mercy to hold on to. The wilderness must not weaken our faith. For we serve an omnipotent God who says “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Our faith will allow us to witness the powerful workings of our God. Hold
still, there is an exit
